It seems like throughout my life I have always had the task of being the one to ask the questions that no one else wanted to ask. It seemed logical to me that "the only stupid questions are the ones left unasked" so to right the World, I decided I would accept the challenge.

The advent of the Internet has brought about a much larger audience, and with it, many more questions. This web site is my attempt at reaching that larger audience and answering the questions that many people are afraid to ask.

Please join me in ridding the World of stupid questions, and maybe answering a few along the way!BossHog (5,096)

OK, here's a challenge. We need a name to call people who answer questions on Unasked. Right now we're calling them 'answerers', but that is so lame. We'll award 1,000 points to the person who suggests the name that we ultimately choose! Make your suggestions by commenting on this post.BossHog (5,096)

I would suggest that your "answerer" be The Oracle or simply Oracle. The Oracle of Delphi, Pythia, the priestess of Apollo, knew all the answers dating back to 1400 BC. Perhaps your Oracle will be as famous. ► Lindsey - Texas

Is Unasked Questions is a stupid Idea? When you look at some of the questions It may seem so, but in fact the idea for such a site is a stroke of genius! People today more than any other in time in human history have been lied to by every one that in the past we used to think were trustworthy. Clergy can not be trusted with our kids. Politicians cannot be trusted with our constitution, Judges have perverted justice, and Lawyers have sold themselves to the highest bidder. The people we work for steal our retirement. Our neighbors force us to lock our doors. We can’t go for a stroll in the evening. I could go on, but you know to well what I’m talking about. What happens to us when it gets to the point we are at now? We get cynical, we have lost our trust of everything and everyone, We ask stupid questions because we don’t think were going to get the truth if we ask a real question. And we have a hard time putting into words the real things, we so desperately want the answers to. So the next time someone asks what you think, is a stupid question, Think about it just a little, maybe you can help and have a little empathy.
Perhaps Those who answer Questions should be called, Empathizers --- larryhyder ► larryhyder - coeburn va

It's funny how the Internet can represent the most untrustworthy sources and through the power of collaboration, the most trustrworthy sources. We'd like to tap into that collaborative power to become a trusted source. Thank you for your suggestion!BossHog (5,096)

I was trying to think of a good metaphor for answers, I came up with the idea of the strongest and best source of light is the sun; with it, we can discern objects clearly, they become illuminated. What about the name for the answerers to be : "Illuminators". For we bring light and clarity to many different areas, hopefully illuminating for all to understand more precisely.Lori K (298)

For greater accountability when rating answers, we have now made it so that a persons name is displayed at the end of the rating after they rate an answer.

This will also make it easier to revoke rater privileges if rating is abused.BossHog (5,096)

Abuse of rating would be things like rating bogus answers with high ratings so that the person who gave the answer will do the same for your answers.BossHog (5,096)

Hi BossHog,

Is it ok to rate an answer which is really opinion or advice, 100% if you agree with the answer?
I like to do that.

Other members can disagree with an answer, and if someone over abusesthe rating system, they can be disabled from making anymore...
I thought I add something before Bosshog does...

I was going to do it right now, disagree with ratings on this page, not because it's a rating I disagree with, it's because this question is now closed and only comments can be made...
hmm...
I guess we can wait for Bosshog...oz (117,009)

Oz, So am I wrong to rate it 100% if it's really an opinion/advice rate? JanJan (31,133)
(Comment on this)

Comment made 63 days 21 hours ago.
No, you share the same opinion as the answer, marking it %100 is fine, but if it is too much obvious that the answer is not 100% other raters can simply disagree, and have another rater mark the answer...
I was more concerened about questions like this...If a rating of 270% or so is made to any question, the site closes the question and it is marked as Answered.
This question " What's happening at Unasked.com" should remain open....So I was thinking of...'politely' clicking the disagree button on one or two answers in this question to keep it open and alive, to allow for more answers.

Although, as I have mentioned before, you can continue to leave comments on any open or closed question, which is good. But if a question is a little busy, and seems like a question with ever changing answers, like this, it get a little clogged with comments and hard to read.oz (117,009)
