If I threw my voice in an echo cave would it come back and talk to me ?

This is a ridiculous question, an echo echos, a reflection of sound waves. When people "throw" their voices it is not done literally, they merely have the skill to articulate in such a way that you imagine the sound of their voice is coming from another place but the source is still the same.. their own mouth. As to your "would it come back and talk to me?" I'm assuming you're stoned. ffs.

Yes, the art of throwing your voice can have the sound formed at another point. Say 10 meters behind you, and then that sound would come back as though another person is talking to you if in an echo cave.
This is good if you like to think out loud, like a story teller would, and have a the feeling another person can participate in the story.
Being under your control, a man can have a one person theater in an echo cave, playing out a scene from any play that would require another person.
A delay of your thrown voice can make a great theater play looking like another person is there.
Good for pretending God is talking to you.

But, throwing your voice does not involve forming the sound at any other place than your own mouth. A trick of masking sound gives the illusion that the sound is being formed behind, in front of, next to, even above the person the voicethrower is 'talking' to. A really skilled voice artist (and I've met a few) can make you really freak out, John Allen, a local voice artist, does kids parties and he has had kids in the palm of his hands convinved that he was talking out of their jean pockets. It does not alter the fact that the voice still originated from his mouth and thus echoed from that point. His manipulation of the tonal qualities is what gives us the illusion that the voice appears elsewhere, it is our perception that gives the trick its wonder.
I agree with you totally that voice projection and control is wonderful in theatre and even in normal everyday conversation. If I could have another persons voice it would have to be Heath Ledgers (of "10 things I hate about you" and "A knights Tale" fame. I hate my RP (received pronunciation) voice.
