No - just another internet rumor. Austin Winkler the musician from Hinder is still out there doing his thing.
It is possible that this rumor got started after a high profile murder case in South Carolina in March of 2006 where a minister "Matthew Winkler" was shot to death in his bed by his wife Mary.

Maybe like....and this might be crazy....but maybe the band started to spread the rumor to get publicity? It's kinda genius. I mean I've been on their myspace all day, and searching them all day on Google. So...maybe....hmmm

yeah really! I'm a HUGE Hinder fan and if Austin Winkler was dead, I think I could of found that out. Plus if he was...it would be EVERY WHERE! Online, tv, newspaper and radio!

Austin winkler didnt die becucase if he actually did die it would have been on the radio and on the news everywhere. We just hear these things form people who heard it from people who made up the rumour. so no austin didnt die.
