Fot a not insectoid answer I'd have to disagree with hippos. While they are indeed dangerous more people die playing golf (lightning strikes, heart attacks) in the USA than are killed by hippos. If you exclude man as an animal then these would be very nasty to confront:
1. The Box Jellyfish
2. Irukandji (A Jellyfish)
3. Salt Water Crocodile
4. Blue Ring Octopus
5. Stone Fish
6. Red Back Spider
7. Brown Snake
8. Tiger Snake
9. Great White Shark
10. Funnel Web Spider
All deadly and all take more than a hundred lives every year....

Deer. While certainly not preditors, deer kill far more humans through motor vehicle accidents than any other animal, other than man, himself
