cell phones/mobile phones in schools:
Pro
students can phone out if there is an emergency
parents can contact children in case of emergency
can be a comfort to children simply because they know they can contact family or friends when they need to

it's the teachers job to care for the children, why do they need to phone out
phones are a distraction in class
can be used to pass illicit messages, during exams, tests, etc
are a source of envy and jealousy
As a teacher I hate mobile phones in class and I feel the positives are simply a result of advertising companies creating fears in parents which leads them to feel they need to give their child a phone. In a school environment this is unnecessary.
I know this will sound strange but it seems that today parents do NOT teach their children basic safety because they feel that buying them a mobile phone ensures that.
If your child gets lost and asks a stranger for directions and then gets abducted, do you really think her having a mobile phone will help? It's the first thing they will take off her, she won't have time to use it. Added to this is the fact that because people, especially young children, are carrying phones often worth several hundred pounds/dollars on them makes them targets for criminals. In the 80's we had children being assaulted and even murdered for their Nike sneakers/shoes, now children are being murdered and assaulted for their phones.

I think cell phones should be allowed in school becuse what about emergencies?how would we be able to contact anyone when some thing bad is happening?even though ''teachers'' say that having a cell phone is bad...well guess agian because that is just bull..ya nike...teachers just got that dirty nike!

yes if theres an emergency you need to be able to contatct someone who could help teachers get cell phones and my S.S. tyeacher just sits there and talks on her cell phone the whole class period so why cant we???????????????
