Not many people live on the top side of Australia, people would have to drive a long way, to get to this tunnel.
Not convenient at all. What would be needed is a new airport, and a some sort of rail system in the tunnel.
No fuel would help to cut cost with items traded for sale, a pulley system that uses the ocean would have to be built to move transports.
Yes, the idea for incoming traffic looks great, but anyone who does use the tunnel would be in the middle of nowhere. The tunnel system would be open a new Industrial/Commercial or a trade line and populate both parts of the new tunnel area.
Darwin would be perfect for this since it's a city on the top end of Australia, but Darwin is closer to the Philippines.
The tunnel would be a great link to there, but not all the way to Singapore.
I know, it would connect Asia and Australia permanently which is great !
Would be great idea if Sydney Melbourne and Adelaide were up the top end, but these major cities are far south in Australia. The tunnel system would be open a new Industrial/Commercial or a trade line.
It's not a very good idea, but a great thought none the less.
I guess you could think about it so it is a good idea, thats why I asked this question.
