Most living things, including trees, plants, animals or humans require water to live. Roots of many trees and plants are voracious in their search for water. The roots of eucalyptus trees tend to grow large and lay on the ground's surface. Trees that grow as large and massive as the magnolia, willow and eucalyptus are best suited to areas where they can freely spread their branches and their roots. The roots of full grown eucalyptus and magnolia trees will destroy concrete and brick slabs and sidewalks and house foundations if planted too close to the house. I've never had pipe damage from any of these trees. Now, pepper trees are another story!
