Yes it is possable, when you are siting on a chair half of your femur is on it and half if it off of it, so a downword blow if it was hard enough could do that if your foot was not directly suporting the rest of your leg. Im sorry that happened to you I've broken mine twice and I know how painfull it is.Get well soon ---regards Larry
