According to an article on SearchWarp.com by Christine Akiteng, playing hard to get is something we do naturally and we use it to measure how interested someone is. According to the article, playing hard to get might push the person you want to interest away from you or make him/her angry. She states how you play hard to get is important.

it's dumb, I dont have a prospect at the moment but the very idea of playing hard to get makes me jealous.

I will not make that effort. I will not get married for the sake of being married, not that I'm a catch, but if you play hard to get, I'm leaving, and I'm not teasing.
Mabey it's a suggestion that one person is'nt different from another, since there are plenty of fish in the sea,
and one should 'step up' to claim their prize, but why play hard to get if this is so.
It's ok if friends are just realizing their feeling for each other and have prolonged a releationship.
