It's not true to say a bee dies automaticly once it loses it's thorn ( stinger ) Only female bees can sting. Male bees, or drones, lack the mean to protecting themselves with a stinger. Some die because when they leave their stinger behind with too much of their abdomen

I derived to this from the Children's book of facts. Interesting to know that I should run from or swat the females.
