As in dumb or slow ? I don't think so...you did a fair effort in asking so I'll give you that, and a little more.
Don't take what other say to you personally, im sure they are being silly, or they might just assume you don't understand what they are saying ...

Think of it this way, if you spoke in a different language and spoke fluently to another and they did not understand a single word, this don't make them 'Thick'
They may come across as dumb and funny as you give the simplest command, or say hello and watch them go ' huh ?'
