The best and absolute answer is this:
The Sun is a yellow, G2 V main sequence dwarf. Yellow dwarfs live about 10 billion years. As our Sun is already about 5 billion years old, then we have about another 5 billion years of Sun left. However that is not the exact truth. The Sun will enter into various sages before it dies, the worst stage will be when it starts changing into a red giant as it consumes its hydrogen/helium core, it will begin to expand swallowing the planets as it goes. When it reaches its apogee or greatest extent it wil fill half the sky and the oceans will boil off the planet, the atmosphere will be ripped away and the planet bathed in UV and IR radiation. It will then begin to contract to become a white dwarf as it consumes the iron at its core. Eventually there will be little to no sunlight and the Earth will remain as a burnt, irradiated, lifeless ball of rock orbiting what is left of our Sun.
That is how the Earth will die, in around 5 billion years.

No matter how much you go round and round the planet never ends, you need to go up and have a look down when you leave the atmosphere.
As for the world being destroyed, a bit unlikely - even for a terrorist attack, - it's just insane to blow it up, and destroy all.
A crack in the planet will be enough damage worldwide, if hit with a space rock or caused by an attack, but even trying to crack the planet insults the amount of money we contribute to defense
- Everything needs a counter measure - or am I just a hopeful loser.
Naturally the planet is not due to be destroyed anytime soon, a few asteroids might come close - or the planet will suffer disruption from solar flares and such -
Earth is built to last many more moons(time), more than we have lived.
The world will end on December 21st 2012. I don't know how it will end but it will on that day. Watch this video.
