a mirror could possibly start a fire or get a someones attention with a glare. a map would be useless unless it leads to water.

A map could lead to sources of survival (forests wood, water drink, etc), and if you're lucky you might find out that it's near civilization. Though likely not, but the map would be useful. That's assuming I have a map of my area, not the other side of the world.

Dpends where you are, a mirror could make fires etc, but a map could show your way around....in a desert it would be useless XDD
