Asphalt is kind of expensive and difficult to lay, because you'll need to boil the material in giant steel drums, which can contribute to pollution and expense. Other than that, I'd stick with concrete, but gravel is also good. http://monsterguide.net/ ... el-driveway

The traction with the black top is second to none, the heat generated is a little more than you want on hot days, tar can become a sticky issue when bits appear from the unstuck graval and edges, the ground is harder and more corse so deeper scrates for kid if they fall.

Concrete is a lot better I think, but a little of that black top around the home might be useful.

Why not patch up road cracks and holes around your home street so to help avoid car repairs, does the community a favor and save you money going to the machanic.
