Instruments are divided into Percussion, String, Wind, Electronic, and Keyboard.
Percussion Instruments create a sound when they are struck. The sound does not have to have a certain pitch. Example: Drums, Bells.
String Instruments make a sound whenever a string is pluckes, Slapped, or Strummed. Example: Violin, Guitar.
Wind Instruments make a sound when a column of air is vibrated within the instrument. These are divided into Brass, like the trumpet, and Woodwind, like the Oboe or Clarinet.
Electronic Instruments create sound electronically, usually they create a sound like another instrument. Example: Synthesizer.
Keyboards are usually played with a musical keyboard. They have a sound or sounds for each key. Sounds can be produced by being fanned, pumped, hammered, plucked or electronically. Examples: Piano, Glockenspiel, Organ.
