They have been gone for a long, long time. But when they existed, there were three subcatagories under which there were 101 types of sauropods.

In the intrest of using correct english , there is a difference in the meaning of "are There" and ' Were there " One is in the present Tense, the other is in the past Tense. so my answer is as you have admited in your answer.100 % correct. you get an e for your english test today.
