Austin Winkler (born on the 25th of October, 1981) is the lead vocalist for the Oklahoma City based rock band Hinder. He wrote the band's breakout hit "Lips of an Angel", which in 2006 peaked at #3 on Billboard Hot 100.

The lead singer of a rock band on OZZY OSBOURNE's OZZFEST tour has been found dead on the band's tour bus.
HINDER frontman Austin Winkler, 30, was discovered yesterday (14AUG02) by his bandmates, police spokeswoman KIM CHINN said.
The band had gone into a hotel to check in and when Williams didn't follow, they went back to check on him.
Chinn said an autopsy would be performed, though she said it could be days before a cause of death could be determined.
The band had come from Indianapolis the night (13AUG02) before with the Ozzfest concert tour.
STEVE KARAS, a spokesman for the band's record label, WIND-UP RECORDS, says, "He was somebody who knew how to entertain.
"He cared more about his fans than most artists and, genuinely, in his heart, gave everything he had every time he was on stage."
Hinder's debut album, Extreme Behavior, has sold 1.2 million copies since its release last June

Rumor going around saying Austin is dead. It's just not true.
The band finished up their May tour and the whole band was alive.
Again, Austin did not die, it's just a lie.
There would have been a MTV anouncement.
Now if you could help me a little, is Austin Winkler a relative to Henry Winkler, you know the guy that played The Fonz in 'Happy Days' TV show ?

So he didn't die? I mean, there are so many rumors going around that he died, and people have all these details, so it's hard to tell if he's dead or not. I really hope he isn't, and you know, if he really was, wouldn't there have been a huge deal about it, and not something going around on the internet and not on tv?

Yes it would have been all over the internet and all the music channels, but it was just a rumour that started with another person with a similar name to Austin's that died.
